Holds that expire on their own
Charter holds with automatic expiry, conflict-safe bookings.

The problem with indefinite holds
A charter client books dates and says "I need to confirm by Friday". You place a hold on those dates so nobody else books them. But Friday passes and they have not confirmed. You meant to release the hold on Monday, but forgot. Now the dates are locked and a serious booking is lost. Or you release the hold, and the first client then confirms, only to find the dates are taken.
Yachtbase charter holds expire automatically. When you create a hold, you set an expiry date. On that date, the hold becomes inactive and the dates open up for new bookings. Clients get a reminder before expiry so they do not lose their preferred dates. If they confirm, the hold converts to a booking. If not, the dates are available.
The whole system is conflict-safe. If two people try to book overlapping dates, Yachtbase locks the yacht row and rejects the second booking. Holds and bookings never collide. Your calendar is always accurate.
What you can do now
- Create a hold: Reserve dates for a potential client. Set the expiry date (e.g. 10 days out or the Friday they said they would confirm).
- Send a reminder: Yachtbase reminds the client before expiry so they know when to confirm.
- Confirm or release: When the client confirms, convert the hold to a booking in one click. If they do not confirm, release the hold or let it expire.
- Book from a hold: If a hold expires, the dates are immediately available for new bookings. No manual work.
- Override if needed: Admins can manually release a hold before expiry if circumstances change.
- See holds and bookings together: Your calendar shows holds (pending confirmation) and bookings (confirmed) so you know what is available.
Why it matters
Indefinite holds are a source of lost revenue and customer confusion. A client thinks their dates are held for weeks. Your team thinks the hold expired last month. Money walks out the door.
Automatic expiry means bookings flow and revenue is captured. Holds work for you, not against you. Clients get reminders so they do not miss their window. Admins do not have to babysit holds. And your calendar is always telling the truth about what is available.
